The son of Thomas and Catherine Cowan, of Morpeth, Northumberland.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the spelling of the name of the vessel on various websites.  It is given as both “Ghurka” and “Gurkha”.

Thomas Cowan is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
