On the Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Second Engineer Stanley Bailes, serving on S.S. Caithness (Newcastle) with the Mercantile Marine who died 20/04/1917.

The son of Frances Bailes and the late John William Bailes and the husband of Elsie May Bailes (nee Anderson), of 26, Fenham Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. He was born at Sunderland.

Stanley Bailes is remembered at Elswick in E35.02, at Newcastle on NUT001 and NUT247,at Sunderland in S140.048 part 8 page 167 and on our List of Ships’ crews
