On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Third Engineer Robert Stanley Bell, serving on S.S. Bellucia (Glasgow) with the Mercantile Marine who died 07/07/1917.

The son of James Bell, of 6, Edith Street, Dawdon, Seaham Harbour, Durham, and the late Jane Bell. He was born at Silksworth, Sunderland.

In Seaham Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Jane,
the beloved wife of
James Bell,
who died March 20th 1916,
aged 64 years.

Also Robert Stanley Bell
son of the above
(Marine Engineer)
who was killed by torpedo
on board the S.S.Bellucia,
on July 7th 1917, aged 26 years.

Also James Bell,
beloved husband of the above
died April 17th 1931,
aged 79 years.

SS Bellucia was torpedoed and sunk by UB31 two miles SSE of the Lizard, Cornwall whilst on route from Montreal to London carrying flour and wheat.
