On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Chief Officer Robert Henry Cooper, serving on S.S. Joseph Swan (London) with the Merchant Navy who died 04/09/1940.

In Preston Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

The Family Resting Place of
James and Charlotte Cooper
of North Shields.
Charlotte Cooper
died 28th August 1918,
aged 74 years.

James Cooper
died 30th December 1922
aged 83 years.

Robert H. Cooper
eldest son of the above
lost at sea through enemy action
4th September 1940 aged 60 years.

Henry Cooper
youngest son of the above
died 7th May 1960,
aged 76 years.
