On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Fireman and Trimmer Robert Arthur Miller, serving on S.S. Togston (Newcastle upon Tyne) with the Merchant Navy who died 08/03/1941.

He was the son of John and Lily Miller and the husband of Rachel May Miller, of Amble, Northumberland.

In Amble West Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Frederick John Miller
accidentally killed at Shilbottle Colliery
Oct. 31st 1941 aged 31 years.

Also Robert Arthur brother of the above
lost at sea through enemy action in
March 9th ?1941 aged 42 years.

Also Lily Miller, mother of the above
died April 8th 1942 aged 62 years.

Also John
dear husband of the above Lily Miller
died April 18th 1953 aged 76 years.

Only goodnight, beloveds, not farewell.
