The husband of Cathleen Shaw, of 6, Palace Yard, Darlington.

Born on Boxing Day 1889, aged two Richard was living with his uncle and aunt Charles and Jane Shaw at 22 Hume Terrace, Darlington.  Ten years later he is listed as their son and living with them at 2 Alpha Place, Saltburn by the Sea.

Richard married Cathleen / Katherine (records differ) Durkin in 1911 in Darlington and they had two children Richard (b.1912) and Lizzie (b.1913).

A member of the Royal Naval Reserve Richard Shaw was a stoker on board the battleship HMS Conqueror, part of the Grand Fleet, and was based in Rosyth, Scotland when not at sea, during 1918.

Richard died from pneumonia.
