On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 126855 Stoker First Class Robert Ellsbury, serving on H.M.S. Pakenham  with the Royal Navy who died 16/04/1943.

The son of Robert and Hilda Ellsbury, of West Cornforth, Co. Durham.

HMS Pakenham was a lead destroyer of 1550 tons. It was lost on 16th April 1943 when it was sunk by own forces after damage in action with destroyers in Sicily.

Robert Ellsbury is remembered at Cornforth on C115.03 and C115.04 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
