In All Saints Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of Lieutenant Robert Allen serving with H.M.S. “Actaeon” Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 29/11/1918.

The son of Thomas and Mary Jane Allen, of Newcastle upon Tyne.

The headstone reads:

died April 11th 1910

The Newcastle Journal 03/12/1918 reports:-
ALLEN —At Chatham Naval Hospital, of influenza, 29th November, Lieut. Robert Allen, R.N.V.R., son Thomas Allan, 1, Eslington Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne. Funeral 11 at All Saints Cemetery today at 11 o’clock.

Robert Allen is remembered at Jesmond on J1.04 as P Allen and in J1.19 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
