In St. Pol Communal Cemetery Extension, France  is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19/158 Lance Corporal Peter Goggins, serving with the 19th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 18/01/1917.

Peter Goggins was born in 1893 at Seaham Colliery, the youngest son of eleven children of Peter and Bridget Goggins. He was the husband of Margaret  Goggins, of 58, South Street, South Moor, Stanley, Co. Durham.

Lance Corporal Peter Goggins was shot at dawn on the 18th January 1917 for desertion, at the same time as Lance Corporal McDonald, (Millfield, Sunderland) and Lance Sergeant Stones (Crook). All three lie side by side in St. Pol cemetery.

Peter Goggins is remembered at South Moor on  S129.01, at Stanley on S135.03 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 8.
