On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of Surgeon Maurice Henry de Jersey Harper, M.B., M.A., serving on H.M.S. Queen Mary with the Royal Navy who died 31/05/1916.

In 1911 Census he was a visitor with his sister Helen Mary at Linden House, Humshaugh the home of Frederick Bell, Physician and Surgeon.

The Maidstone Telegraph 17/06/1916 reports:-
Surgeon Maurice Henry de Jersey Harper, who went down with. the Queen Mary, was for many years stationed at Chatham. Naval Barracks. He was 27 years of age, and his younger brother is in the Buffs.

Maurice Henry de Jersey Harper is remembered at Durham on D47.151 page 41, at Newcastle on NUT051 and NUT066 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
