The son of John and Susannah Wood, of 55, Woodbine Terrace, Blyth. He was a native of North Shields.
The Blyth News 02/06/1924 carries the following:
Wood in loving memory of our dear son, John William Wood, of H.M.S. Black Prince, who was killed in action May 31st, 1916, in the Battle of Jutland.
A day to remember but sad to recall.
Ever remembered by his loving father and mother, brothers and sisters.
