On the Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 92977 Leading Stoker James William Wallace, serving on H.M.S. Hood with the Royal Navy who died 24/05/1941.

James/Jimmy was born on the 11th December 1917 the son of James and Margaret Wallace at Sunderland, Durham. He moved to Edinburgh and worked in a Cinema as a page boy. He then moved to Slough, and worked for a Cabinet Maker.

James joined the Navy in 1936 and originally signed on for twelve years. He did his training at HMS Victory.

James William Wallace is remembered at Sunderland on S140.046 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
