On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Third Officer Joseph William Briggs, serving on S.S. Holystone (Newcastle upon Tyne) with the Merchant Navy who died 15/02/1941.

He was the son of Eltringham Allon Briggs and Margaret Jane Briggs, and the  husband of Kathleen Briggs, of Gateshead

He was District Scoutmaster of Newcastle.

Joseph William Briggs is remembered in our List of Ships’ Crews.
