On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Second Mate John Thomas Sinclair, serving on S.S. Jacona (Dundee) with the Mercantile Marine who died 12/08/1915.

The son of W. Sinclair, of Haig Street, Dunston on Tyne. He was born at Gateshead.

In Gateshead (Saltwell) Cemetery is a family headstone for Sinclair which reads:

In loving memory of
John Thomas
dearly beloved son of
W. & S.H. Sinclair
who was mined in the North Sea
Aug. 12th 1915 Aged 22 years

their daughter
who died Nov. 16th 1901
aged 6 years.

Mary Ellen
their daughter
who died Nov. 20th 1916
aged 10 years.

William Andrew
Son of the above
Who died Oct. 23rd 1921
Aged 17 years

and
