On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Third Engineer James Taylor Ashworth, serving on S.S. Stanhope (Middlesbrough) with the Mercantile Marine who died 17/06/1917.

He was the husband of Elizabeth Ashworth (nee Bower), of 70, Kitchener Street, Sunderland. He was born at Hartlepool.

James Taylor Ashworth is remembered at Hartlepool on H115.16, at Sunderland in S140.48 Part 8 page 167,  at West Hartlepool on W111.018, W111.032 and W111.055,  in the Mercantile Roll of Honour, and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
