On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 86805 Stoker 1st Class John Meggison Smith, serving on H.M.S. Kashmir with the Royal Navy who died 23/05/1941.

HMS Kashmir was bombed and sunk on the 23rd May 1941 by German Stuka dive bombers south of Crete together with HMS Kelly, another K-class destroyer.

John Meggison Smith is remembered at Birtley on B127.01 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
