On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Steward John James Brennan, serving on S.S. Polzella (Penzance) with the Merchant Navy who died 13/01/1940.

The Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail 27/02/1940 reports:-
BRENNAN.—Lost sea on the s.s. Polzella. January 17th. John J. (Jimmy), aged 42 years, the dearly beloved husband of Isabella Brennan (nee Ella Marshall), 5 Russell Street, South Parade. Deeply regretted.
