John George Best was the son of Mr. W. Best, of 410, Tin Street, Leadgate, Durham

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born at Ridley Mill, Northumberland, enlisted in Barnard Castle and resided in Leadgate.  He formerly served with the D.L.I. with the service number 25049.

An In Memoriam notice was posted in the Blaydon Courier on 09/10/1920.
