Every Name a Story

James Claughan Trobe, Able Seaman,  serving on S.S. Clan Murray with the Merchant Navy, died 14/07/1942.

His records state he died from Heart Failure consequent severe diarrhoea and stomach trouble.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle 28/09/1942 reports:-
TROBE. Died at sea July, 1942. aged 20 years, James Claughan, the dearly beloved and only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Trobe of Oaklea, Wideopen, late of South Shields. Deeply mourned by father, mother and sister.

James Claughan Trobe is remembered at Gosforth on G9.02, at Longbenton in  L25.10,  at Seaton Burn on S88.01 and S88.03 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
