John was born June 11th 1920. In 1939 the family were living at 63 Merton Road father William born 1897 was a Fitter’s Labourer, Charlotte born 1901 was a Winder and John was a Private in the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle 09/02/1940 reports:
PAXTON.—St Anthony’s. 63, Merton Road. February 6th, aged 19 years, John Alexander (Private. N.F), dearly beloved son William and Charlotte Paxton (nee Gair), Interment St. Anthony’s Churchyard, Saturday, leaving residence 1.45 p.m. All friends and neighbours kindly Invited. Deeply mourned. Military honours.
