In All Saints’ Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of K/45321 Stoker 2nd Class John Young, serving on H.M.S. Victory with the Royal Navy who died 16/08/1918.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
John Young
Stoker on H.M.S. Minotaur
Son of
Joseph and Mary Jane Young
who died on active service
Aug. 16th 1918
Aged 20 years

Also Mary Jane Young
Emmerson
Niece of the above
died Feb. 22nd 1919
aged 6 years

According to Casualty Lists of the Royal Navy and Dominion Navies John Young died of illness whilst serving on the H.M.S. Victory. CWGC also gives him serving on H.M.S. Victory.

John Young is remembered at Langley Park on L64.01 and L64.02 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
