On Lowestoft Naval Memorial is the name of LT/JX 219597 Seaman John Wake, serving on H.M.S. Ouzel with the Royal Naval Patrol Service who died 03/11/1941.

The son of John George and Florence May Wake and the husband of Annie Wake, of Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland.

Margaret Burgess has submitted the following:-

John Wake was born August 20th 1912, son of John George and Florence May Wake. He was the husband of Annie, and father to two daughters who were living at Sandridge, Newbiggin by the Sea.

He died age 26 whilst serving on HMS “Ouzel.”

John Wake is remembered at Newbiggin by the Sea on N10.04, N10.13 and N10.14 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
