On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Fireman Joseph Rowley, serving on S.S. Powhatan (Sunderland) with the Mercantile Marine who died 06/04/1917.

The son of the late Thomas and Hannah Rowley and the husband of Sarah Jane Rowley. He was born at Tynemouth.

Joseph Rowley is remembered at North Shields on N34.05 and N34.77, at Tynemouth on T36.01 and in T36.14 page 23, in the Mercantile Marine  Roll of Honour 1917  and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
