On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Junior Engineer Officer James Barr, serving on M.V. San Arcadio (London) with the Merchant Navy who died 31/01/1942.

He was the son of James Sturrock Barr and Caroline Ross Barr, of Benton, Northumberland

He was a member of the 1st Tyne Sea Scout Group. His entry in the Scout Roll of Honour for 1939-1945 gives his year of death as 1941.
