In Amble West Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Samuel
dear husband of
Elizabeth Laidler Murray
who died April 12 1944 aged 58 years

And the above
Elizabeth Laidler Murray
who died Sep. 2 1947 aged 53 years

Also of their dear only son
James Blackett Murray
lost at sea through enemy action
Oct. 12 1941 aged 30 years.
