In Winlaton (St. Paul) Churchyard Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of C/MX76416 Joiner Third Class Henry Carr serving on H.M.S. Pembroke with the Royal Navy who died 05/01/1946. 

He was the son of Henry and Mary Carr, of Blaydon.

 The headstone reads:

In loving memory of
our dear sons
C.P.O. William Carr R.N.
killed in action at sea
12th Nov. 1942, aged 35 years.

Also P.O. Henry Carr R.N.
who died on active service
5th Jan. 1946, aged 28 years.

Also Henry Carr
father of the above
died 17th Oct. 1950
aged 75 years.

Henry Carr, having been demobbed at Chatham, Kent, was returning to his home in Blaydon to marry his sweetheart, Dorothy Hume, of Annfield Plain. The Kings Cross to Newcastle express train crashed into some derailed trucks near Browney Junction, just outside Durham City, killing a total of ten people one of whom was Henry Carr.
