The son of George and Elizabeth Smith and the husband of Isabella Smith, of Whitley Bay.

Angela Conroy tells us that his Burial Record provides the following:

His death took place outside Territorial Waters off Southend on Sea. His address was 49 Holystone Avenue, Whitley & Monkseaton. He died on 01/11/1940 and was buried on 07/11/1940. The Burial register shows his age as 55, not 64.

George Smith is remembered at Whitley Bay on W84.01 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
