In Lower Fahan (Christ Church) Churchyard County Donegal, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19951DA(Ch) Deck Hand Gideon Fraser, serving on H.M. Trawler William Biggs with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 08/07/1919.

The Sunderland Daily Echo 11/07/1919 carries the following:
Sunderland Man drowned.
Mrs. Fraser, of 48 Victor Street, Monkwearmouth, has been officially informed that her husband, Gideon Fraser, and member of the crew of H.M.S. ?Hecla, was drowned on Tuesday night at ?Buncrass.
The deceased enlisted in Australia in 1916, in the Australian Expeditionary Force, and was discharged owing to being physically unfit in October 1917.  He was wounded in East Africa.  He joined the navy for mine-sweeping twelve months ago.

Gideon Fraser is remembered at Monkwearmouth on M46.20 and M46.22, at Sunderland in S140.48 Part 10 page 212 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
