The George Dunn mentioned on the memorial was married to my mother in June 1943. They lived with my grand parents at 4 Neville Square, Lynemouth. He served on HMS Janus which was sunk by enemy aircraft of Anzio on 23rd January 1944. His rank was Petty Officer (Eng).

George Dunn is remembered at Lynemouth on L40.01, at Ashington on A17.01, A17.27 and A17.43 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
