The son of Alexander and Elizabeth Ann Ure, of Monkseaton, Whitley Bay.

Tragedy struck later that same day when Corsair KD546, flown by Sub-Lt G.A. Anderson RCN, dropped its port wing on landing and swung to port collapsing the undercarriage leg, the aircraft came to rest on the DLCO (Deck Landing Control Officer) platform killing the DLCO Sub-Lt F.E. Ure RNVR.

THE LATE SUB.- LT. F. E. URE
The funeral took place at the Whitley Bay Cemetery this week, of Sub-Lt. Frank E. Ure, Fleet Air Arm, youngest son of Mr. and. Mrs. Alexander Ure, of Evesham Avenue Monkseaton.

Sub.- Lt. Ure, who was 23 years of age, was killed on duty. The funeral ceremony at Whitley Bay Cemetery was conducted by the R.A.F. Chaplain, and R.A.F. personnel accorded military honours. Prior to this the Rev. H. Mortimer, Minister of St. John’s Methodist Church, conducted a private service in the family home.

Family mourners included Mr. and Mrs. Ure (father and mother), Mr. A. Ure (brother), Sapper W. Ure, R.E., and Mrs. Ure (brother and sister-in-law), Lance-Corporal S. Ure R.E. (brother), Craftman H. J. Ure R.E.M.E., and Mrs. Ure (brother and sister-in-law), Mrs Elsie Grigor (aunt), Mr. A. Grigor (uncle), Mrs. Charlton (aunt), and Mr. Frank Wilson.’
