He was the son of Frank and Isabella Corradine, of Jarrow, Co. Durham.

Born in Jarrow at the end of 1920 Frank never knew his father who had died in June.  In 1921 he was living with his mother Isabella (nee Lascelles) Corradine at 34 Northbourne Road, Jarrow along with here mother Agnes and Frank’s sisters Winifred (b.1915), Agnes (b.1916) and Isabella (b.1918).  By 1939 the family were living at 12 The Crescent, Jarrow and Frank was working as an apprentice mechanical engineer.

Frank Corradine was an engineering officer on board M.V. Patella which was sailing from Cardiff to Trinidad via the Cape when she was shelled and sunk by the German cruiser Michel on 11th April 1942.  He was taken captive as a POW of the Germans and eventually transferred onto their M.V. Ramses in Yokohama Harbour in July, before being handed over to the Japanese as a Prisoner of War a month later.

Fifth Engineer Officer Corradine died from tuberculosis in Fukuoka Camp no. 3, Yahata, having most probably worked as slave labour in Yahata Steel Mills.

Frank Corradine is remembered in Jarrow on J2.07,  J2.15 and J2.18 and on our List of Ships’ Crews.
