In Westoe Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of Tyneside Z/8097 Able Seaman Charles Williamson  Taylor, serving on H.M.S. “President III” with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve  who died 27/11/1918.

The headstone reads:-

the beloved wife of
James Taylor
who died February 27th 1878
aged 65 years

James Taylor
who died February 21st 1900
aged 72 years

Also Charles Williamson Taylor R.N.V.R.
Grandson of
James and Thomisina Taylor
died Nov. 27th 1918 aged 39 years

Also Thomasina beloved wife of the above
James Taylor
died March 16th 1924 aged 66 years
