On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Chief Engineer Officer Albert Edward Broadley, serving on S.S. Empire Light (Glasgow) with the Merchant Navy who died 08/05/1941.

He was the son of Capt. John Broadley, M.M., and Clara Broadley. He was married to Isobel Broadley, of Roker, Sunderland

S.S. Empire Light was sunk on 7th March 1943, so C.E.O. must have died through another cause.

Albert Edward Broadley is remembered at Roker on R50.02 , at Sunderland in S140.159 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
