On Lowestoft Naval Memorial is the name of LT/JX 225078 Seaman Adam Albert Wharton, serving with the Royal Naval Patrol Service who died 15/06/1942.

In Norham St. Cuthbert’s Churchyard is a family headstone for Wharton which reads:

who died 19th Sept. 1957.

Adam Albert Wharton was the son of Adam and Mary Elizabeth Wharton, of Norham, Northumberland.

He was serving on H.M. Trawler Kingston Ceylonite, which was on loan to the U.S. Navy for anti-submarine duties and was mined in Chesapeake Bay.
