On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of PO/X 3496 Marine Alexander Noble serving on H.M.S. Hood with the Royal Navy who died 24/05/1941.

He was the son of Alexander and Thomasina Noble, of Wallsend, Northumberland.

Alexander was born January 25th 1922.

In 1939 the family were living at 7 Leicester Street Newcastle upon Tyne.

His father Alexander, born 1887, a widower, was a Passenger Guard. His sister Elizabeth, born December 20th 1923, was a Porteress. His brother John M., born July 8th 1925 was, like Alexander, an Apprentice Fitter Engineer. Mary Priestly, born 1900, the housekeeper completed the household. Alexander the father married Mary in Spring 1940 and died in September 1943.

Alexander Noble is remembered at Wallsend in W7.06 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
