He was the son of Timothy and Mary Mansell, of Ashington.  He was married to Ivy Doris Rose Mansell, of Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Aaron was born on the 25th February 1905, at Ashington, to parents, Timothy and Mary Mansell, being baptised at St. Aidan’s on the 23th March. On the 1911 census Aaron aged 6, is living with his parents Timothy and Mary, along with his siblings, Samuel, Timothy, Mary, Emma and Ann at 70 Portia Street, Ashington.
Aaron’s father served as a Private in the Northumberland Fusiliers during the Great War, but was discharged after only 8 months, he later died in 1922.

Aaron enlisted in HM Royal Navy on the 23rd May 1928, allocated the service number P/KK 79286 serving aboard HMS Victory.

He went on to marry Ivy Choules in 1941.

On the 26th September 1945, Aaron died, leaving behind his wife Ivy and son David. He is buried at St. Aidan’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Note: On the headstone, the service number is P/KX.79286.  In the CWGC record it is P/KX79286.
