On Voe Old Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/5945 Able Seaman Albert Lockyer, serving on H.M.S. Shannon with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 03/02/1917.

Margaret Allison says that in 1911 he lived at 53 Pont Street, Ashington, and died aged 19 years.
