In Holy Trinity Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of J/49524 Ordinary Seaman Andrew Buglass, serving on H.M.S. Victory 1  with the Royal Navy who died 28/02/1916.

The family headstone reads:

In proud and loving
memory of our dear boys
who heard and answered
their country’s call
and who gave their lives in the
Great War 1914-1918
Andrew, eldest son of George and
Elizabeth Buglass, New Deanham
died in Naval Training at Haslar
Hospital, Gosport, 28 Feb. 1916, aged 22 years

George Anderson Lce Cpl. King’s Royal Yeoman
Rifles, their second son died from wounds at
the Military Hospital, Richmond Surrey
6 Oct. 1916 aged 21 years.
So sleep the brave.

Andrew Buglass died in the Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, Gosport, from Lobar Pneumonia.

In Northumberland Record Office is the Bronze Death Penny given to his family. Ref. NRO 05944/P/1.

There also are letters from Andrew Buglass to his family while he was serving with the Royal Navy. Ref. NRO 05944/E
