this window is dedicated by
Rowland and Mary Arundel Burdon
in devoted memory of their son
Rowland Burdon, seventh of that name,
Captain & Flight Commander Royal Flying Corps
who gave his life in the service of his country
at Branham in the County of Yorkshire
on the 10th day of January 1917

Memorial Description:

Stained glass window of a single light depicting the risen Christ.

Two angels below him hold a scroll bearing the text “Underneath are the everlasting arms”.

In the bottom left is a badge and the words “In desperandum auspice deo” (“Under God’s care, there is nothing to despair”)

In the bottom right hand corner is the badge of the Royal Flying Corps.

On the sloping sill is a plaque 16½ inches high x 30 inches wide (42cms x 76cms)with blue and black border with white crosses on a red background at intervals.

This carries the dedication in Roman capitals.
