Stained Glass Window Abbot and Duncan 1914-18 St. Barnabas

St Barnabas Church, Sandyford, Newcastle (closed). It was founded in 1904. It was demolished in 1977.

The site is now occupied by a sheltered housing complex.

Dedicated 28th October 1917 by Canon Lillingston of Durham Cathedral.

The service was conducted by the Vicar Rev. A. Thomas.

Stained glass window of two lights.

One light represents a scene from the Resurrection and is to the memory of Mr. Thomas Relph Abbot, master mariner, by his brother, John George Abbot.

The other light depicts Christ as “The Light of the World” and was erected by Mrs. Duncan of Sunderland in memory of Private Edward Duncan. who died 24/02/1917.
