2nd Batt. the Durham Light Inft. who at the age of 23, the
youngest brigadier general in
the British Army, was killed in the Great War at the
Battle of Cambrai 30 Nov 1917

Memorial Description:

Plaque 16 inches high x 36 inches wide (41cms x 91cms), set on pattress 52 inches high x 55 inches wide (132cms x 1.39cms).

Of classical design, (“early 18th century”) there is an ornate setting for the badge of the Durham Light Infantry, highlighted in colour.

There is a raised border surrounding the plain black panel at centre on which the dedication is set in gilded Roman lettering.
