Unveiled 15th August 1920 by Rev. J.C. Nattrass.

Materials Used:

Brass in oak frame.

Sculptor, Artist or Designer:

Engraved by Mr. M. Hamilton of Jarrow, who was 80 years of age.

Inscription:

(Dedicated to members who fell)

Memorial Description:

Plaque 24 inches high x 42 inches wide (608mm x 1.06m), framed in oak.

7 names and ranks.

Notes:

1. One of the names is spelt differently in the newspapers. One has Joseph Lane, the other has Joseph Laine. He was killed at Palmer’s Works on the 15th June 1915, during an air raid but is not on the Palmer’s memorial.

2. The War Memorial was taken off the wall by a Church parishioner and was taken home for safekeeping.. Extensive enquiries since 2005 have failed to to find this Memorial. (Conversation with a member of the public, South Shields, September 2005)

3. The Church was demolished in 1966.
