in the Service of their country during WWII.

Memorial Description:

Plaque, 39 inches high x 59 inches wide (100cms x 150cms), divided into three columns.

In the first column, at top left is the badge of the R.A.F.

Below this are eight squadron badges in two rows of four.

Below this is the dedication.

The rest of this column and the other two are taken up with the date of the crash, type of aircraft, where the crash occurred followed by the details of the crews.

The dedication and dates are in Roman lower case, the rest is in sans serif.

29 names, ranks and squadrons.

Notes:

1. 29 Allied aircrew died in crashes near the airfield.

2. The church was the official church for the airfield.

3. Those involved in the creation of this plaque were Chris Davies; East Chevington Parish Council; Acklington Parish Council; 43 (Fighter) Squadron, R.A.F.; UK Coal; Her Majesty’s Prison, Acklington.

4. The crash of 1/12/1943 killed the children sleeping upstairs in Cliff House Farm. They are remembered at a housing estate named after them at Amble.
