Unveiled October 29th 1950 by the Rector Rev. J.F. Richardson and with other items was dedicated as Bishopwearmouth’s War Memorial.

Inscription:

To the Glory of God
and in grateful memory of the men of
Bishopwearmouth Parish Church and of St Peter’s Church
Bishopwearmouth who were killed in the World War 1939 – 1945

Memorial Description:

Parchment 24 inches high x 36 inches wide (61cms x 79cms) behind glass.

The frame is 28 inches high x 39 inches wide (71cms x 99cms) with moulded edges terminating in squares containing carved flowers in each corner, and a raised device at centre top containing a cross.

The lettering is done by hand in blue with red initials.

The names are in eight rows, running on in the form of a sentence instead of columns.
