dedicated by Rev. T. Wallace, Vicar of St. Mark’s, Jarrow.

White Sicilian marble

Mr. J.W. Reed, sculptor, Newcastle.

Memorial Description:

Plaque 36 inches high x 48 inches wide (91cms x 122cms), of classical design, with carved decoration along the top and down the sides.

The dedication is in the top central raised panel.

The side panels each have a cross at top  and a plant growing upwards at the bottom.

The names are listed in four columns.

The quotation is underneath the names,

Lettering is in capitals.

1. Northern Echo reports that the plaque was unveiled by Mr. Joseph Ballantyne, who was severely wounded in action.
