On memorial:

To the honoured memory of our boys
who gave their lives for us
in the Great War.

On new plaque alongside:
This memorial was relocated from
the former Queen Victoria School
North Shields and rededicated with
the help of North Tyneside Council
and Whitley Bay and District Royal
British Legion.

Plaque 72 inches high x 28 inches wide (1.82 m x 711 mm) set onto the forward face of a brick pilaster.

The “capital” 12 inches high (302mm) and “plinth” 6 inches high (151mm) are a very light stone painted dark grey.

The dedication is incised into the capital.

The main column is of marble, in which the names are listed in a single column.

The lettering throughout is incised and painted gold, using sans serif capitals.

Alongside is a stainless steel plaque 10 inches high x 13 inches wide (24.5cms x 32.5cms) which tells the story of the relocation of the plaque.

There is a slim double line border.

Lettering is in sans serif lower case.

1. This was in the Great Hall On the first floow of the Queen Victoria School. When the school became a Training Centre, the hall had its ceiling lowered and it became a joinery workshop.

2. Queen Victoria Training School (formerly Queen Victoria School), Coach Lane NZ 351682 became the Development Training Operations (North Tyneside Council). The Development Training Operations vacated the building which is awaiting demolition.

3. In September 2006 the plaque was relocated to the Beacon Centre, and a new steel plaque  telling the story of the relocation placed alongside it.
