Plaque in wood frame, 50 inches high x 31 inches wide (126cms x 79cms).

The frame is heavily carved with intertwined leaves and flowers across the top and down both sides and has tracery along the bottom edge.

Inside this is a plain inner frame, which is much deeper at the top and bears the dedication in Roman capitals.

The main plaque bears the names in a single column, those from 1914-18 at the top, followed by those of 1939-45.

The lettering is in Roman capitals coloured blue with the dates are in red.

1. The name of Ralph Eustace Smith is missing from this list, although it is included on the cross.

2. The Faculty dated 02/11/1945 allowed the church ‘to add to the present War Memorial (1914-18) the names of four men of the said parish who gave their lives in the war 1939-45’. Estimated cost £5, given by private donors and P.C.C. Note from the vicar shows a plan of the present 1914-18 War Memorial tablet in the West Wall of the Church. Design is to be a plain tablet, sunk lettering ‘similar to Tablet lettering’. It is to be executed by Messrs Reid, Goldsmiths, Newcastle.

3. A photograph in the Ralph Hedley Collection shows that the original plaque was only large enough to take the names for 1914-18. It has been extended to take the names for 1939-45.
