Memorial Description:

Plaque, 57 inches (1.44m) high x 87 inches wide (144cms x 220cms).

It is very plain, with deep border, made of four oblong stones.

The lettering is in black raised lead letters.

The quotation is repeated on each half . The names are listed in four columns.

The 1914-18 plaque has been enlarged to accommodate the names from 1939-45.

Notes:

1. See U8.01.

2. The hall was demolished and replaced by housing.

3. From an old postcard, it seems that there were two plaques, one for each half of the alphabet, each in an elaborate frame with half-pillars up the sides surmounted by a hemisphere containing the dates below which were two laurel sprays. The photo shows that there was a chain link railing.

4. The two plaques had the names for 1939-45 added and were brought together in the plain frame that appears now.
