Memorial Description:

Organ, 3-rank extension.

Plaques in a wood frame 51 inches high x  72 inches wide (1.29m x 1.82m) with fluted top, very plain.

Underneath is a pedimented top which bears the school badge in colour.

The dedication is on a narrow plate fixed to the top border.

To this are attached 5 plaques, each 39 inches high x 8 inches wide (991mm x 203mm) which bear the names in a single column on each in painted Roman capitals.

Notes:

1. The plaques had been attached to the organ in the other part of the school. The organ had been destroyed or broken up by 1988. It was last seen in pieces in a church hall, and is probably now lost.

2. A girl from this school was saved from the wreck of the City of Benares which was sunk by enemy action in September 1940.

3. A photograph taken earlier by Simon Raine shows the memorial looking totally different. It is set on a white wood frame with crenellated pedimented top with the school badge at the centre in full colour. The panels are also divided by the white framework.

4. 2022 the memorial is in storage awaiting permanent hanging
