Memorial Description:

Memorial stone with curved top and two flanking wings, slightly raked.

The centre slab bears the dedication with a laurel wreath at centre.

The left hand panel carries the names from 1914-18 in two columns.

The right hand panel carries the names from 1939-45 in a single column.

Lettering is in Roman capitals for the dedication and lower case for the names.

To the left and right of the main memorial are two further free standing panels, each standing on a rough cast stone. The left hand panel records the start of the Great War, the right hand panel reports the end of the Great War. Both bear quotations and a carving of corn and poppies.

Notes:

1. The chief persons concerned with the Sherburn Village War Memorial Project, who established the fund, applied for the land, and designed the monument were John Burrell (Chairman) and Kevin Stock.

2. The two stones on either side of the memorial were added in 2014
